During a Wednesday House Judiciary Committee hearing, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) was railed by a GOP congressman regarding January 6th provocateur Ray Epps.
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) told Raskin, who is a member of the January 6th Committee, that he finds it “odd” the politicized committee is “defending one of the people who assaulted the Capitol.”
Raskin asked, “Defending who?” and Massie replied, “Ray Epps.”
“I literally have no idea what you are talking about,” Raskin shockingly claimed.

Epps was filmed on multiple occasions encouraging others to engage in criminal activity on and before January 6th, even saying he was “probably going to go to jail for it.”
When Epps encouraged people to go into the Capitol the next day, a crowd around him literally chanted, “fed,” in the assumption he was a federal agent or informant.
However, after ending up on an FBI wanted list in relation to the infamous day, the agency mysteriously removed Epps from the list of wanted individuals and he has not been charged with any crimes unlike dozens of conservatives who did not engage in any violence or vandalism.
Additionally, the House committee investigating Jan. 6th released a statement in January 2022 dismissing “unsupported claims that Ray Epps was an FBI informant.”
The committee said they interviewed Epps, admitting to taking his word that he “was not employed by working with, or acting at the direction of any law enforcement agency on Jan 5th or 6th or at any other time, & that he has never been an informant for the FBI or any other law enforcement agency.”
While Epps may have never been an employee or informant for a “law enforcement” agency, he did not deny ever having been employed by or having been an informant for any intelligence agencies.
Also, it is worth mentioning his attorney was an FBI agent for nine years, as reported by Revolver‘s Darren J. Beattie.

The claim of ignorance by Raskin went viral online with “Ray Epps” trending on Twitter as people were enraged by a Jan. 6 Committee member again covering for the provocateur.
Rep. Massie asked on Twitter, “How is it that democrats on the January 6th committee don’t know who Ray Epps is? The committee previously said they would interview Epps and release the transcript. But now all we hear are crickets.”
