Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, who was appointed as a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden by Joe Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland earlier this month, worked closely with Joe’s eldest son Beau Biden for many years.
Attorney Mark Lytle, who is representing IRS investigator and whistleblower Gary Shapley, called for Weiss to be removed from his position as special counsel over the blatant conflict of interest.
According to The Washinton Post, Weiss worked with Beau in 2010 on a large fraud case and would have associated with the elder Biden son during his time at the Delaware U.S. Attorney’s office from 2007 up until Beau’s death in 2015.
Many conservatives and GOP politicians have called out Weiss for his handling of the botched Hunter Biden IRS investigation he led before being named special counsel earlier this month.
Last week, Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) pointed out how the original Weiss investigation into Hunter intentionally went nowhere in order to cover for both Joe and the crackhead First Son.
Even CNN legal analyst Elie Honig admitted Tuesday, “The DOJ has made an unholy mess of this whole Hunter Biden situation. I fault David Weiss, who I’ve spoken positively about on this show, given his long service as a U.S. attorney.”
Honig said he is “perplexed” by the lack of transparency and action by the DOJ and expressed concern the federal government was going to let Hunter off the hook with a slap on the wrist before IRS whistleblowers came forward.
Of course, Hunter Biden’s lawyers immediately called for those IRS whistleblowers to be prosecuted for daring to speak out.
Then, Honig explained, “They go all the way to appointing a special counsel, the same guy who’s been presiding over the case for five-plus years already!”
The mainstream media legal analyst said, “The DOJ made a real mess for themselves and now they’ll have to deal with the consequences of it.”
The Wall Street Journal on Monday published an opinion piece titled, “David Weiss Should Resign,” citing a former DOJ attorney who pointed out Weiss is essentially covering up his own failed investigation into Hunter.
The constitutional attorney, David Rivkin, told WSJ, “The real problem is the conflict Weiss has in investigating himself. He must investigate whether there was an earlier effort to obstruct the Hunter investigation, and he cannot do so because he was either involved in this obstructive activity or at least was a material witness to it.”
The House Committee on the Judiciary and House Committee on Ways and Means issued subpoenas Monday to IRS investigators and Biden DOJ officials with direct knowledge of a meeting where Weiss allegedly claimed he was prevented from bringing charges against President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, for tax crimes.
The committee noted, “The subpoenas come after the DOJ and the IRS refused to comply with multiple requests for voluntary transcribed interviews with these key witnesses.”
House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) joined Sean Hannity on Fox News Monday night to explain the subpoenas focus on four individuals working at the IRS and FBI who could have been helping Hunter avoid prosecution on tax and gun charges.
“But for these whistleblowers that sweetheart deal would have been even sweeter. They weren’t even going to require Hunter Biden plea guilty to anything. This is how bad this was, and what we want to do Sean is we want to talk to folks who were in the meeting. These whistleblowers come forward, they change history,” Jordan told Hannity.
