Defense Secretary John Kirby bizarrely denied the chaos that unfolded amid the Biden administration’s disastrous Aug. 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal.
“For all this talk of ‘chaos,’ I just didn’t see it,” Kirby lied to reporters Thursday, denying the horror witnessed as US forces lifted off from Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport.

In reality, horrific images from that day showed scores of Afghan citizens rushed the airport fearing for their lives and trying to reach safety, with some desperately hanging onto and riding on the landing gear of a US C-17 military airplane while it took off, as Taliban insurgents launched attacks on Kabul taking advantage of the Biden administration’s sudden troop pullout.

Kirby’s whitewashing of the incident came amid a grilling over the Defense Department’s release of a 12-page report Thursday, which one reporter labeled a “modern major holiday news dump,” complaining it was distributed a mere 10 minutes before the press briefing began.
Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy also pressed Kirby asking, “Who’s going to get fired over this?!” after the intelligence community admitted major blunders.
“The purpose of [the report] is not accountability,” Kirby responded adding the goal was to study the situation.
Kirby also denied the US military abandoned heavy equipment when it hurriedly evacuated saying, “This idea…is just LUDICROUS! That we left millions of dollars of stuff in Afghanistan?! We didn’t!”
In reality, a DOD report last August admitted $7 billion of military equipment transferred from the US to the Afghan government had been left behind.
The DoD’s report also attempted to lay blame on the Afghan debacle on former President Donald Trump, claiming Biden was “severely constrained” by a deal struck by the former commander-in-chief with the Taliban.
The report claimed:
The departing Trump Administration had left the Biden Administration with a date for withdrawal, but no plan for executing it. And after four years of neglect—and in some cases deliberate degradation—crucial systems, offices, and agency functions that would be necessary for a safe and orderly departure were in disrepair.
The Defense Department report is already being criticized by Republican members of Congress for attempting to whitewash a terrible day in history.
President Trump himself also responded to the report denying he was in any way responsible, and placing blame for the horrific incident squarely at the feet of “Hopeless Joe Biden.”
“These Morons in the White House, who are systematically destroying our Country, headed up by the biggest Moron of them all, Hopeless Joe Biden, have a new disinformation game they are playing – Blame ‘TRUMP’ for their grossly incompetent SURRENDER in Afghanistan,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Thursday.
“I watched this disaster unfold just like everyone else. I saw them take out the Military FIRST, GIVE $85 Billion of military equipment, allow killing of our soldiers, and leave Americans behind. Biden is responsible, no one else!”
