U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents conducted a “worksite enforcement operation” at a San Diego, California, Italian restaurant on Friday, making multiple arrests and using anti-riot weapons on locals who surrounded officers, shouted obscenities and threw objects at them.

ICE spokesperson Yasmeen Pitts O’Keefe said the operation took place at Buona Forchetta and Enoteca Buona Forchetta restaurants, which are located next door to each other and are sister restaurants.

San Diego City Council member Stephen Whitburn accused ICE agents of abusing the workers’ right to due process and conflated “immigrants” with illegal immigrants.

“People have a right to due process. Our neighbors who are immigrants are vital to the fabric of our city, and they deserve to live without fear or intimidation. San Diego must remain a city where fairness, humanity, and the rule of law prevail,” Whitburn said on 𝕏.

Another San Diego councilmember named Sean Elo Rivera called the ICE agents “terrorists” in an Instagram post.

Homeland Security went to social media to call the councilman’s post “SICKENING.”

“ICE is working day and night to remove murders, pedophiles, and gang members from American communities,” DHS wrote.

An unidentified ICE agent told KPBS, “We’re executing a criminal search warrant at the location that we just completed, so we’re getting out.”

An employee at one of the restaurants said, “Ten (federal agents) came into part of our restaurant. And they handcuffed my manager, saying they have a search warrant, and I just started crying because I knew what was happening.”

ICE arrested three or four employees during the raid.

While in the process of apprehending the illegal aliens, federal agents were forced to deploy flashbang grenades due to locals swarming their vehicles and throwing objects.

The restaurant’s manager closed the business for the remainder of Friday night, but said he’d be reopening Saturday.
