Harrowing footage shows a police officer shooting a black man after the suspect pulled what appears to be a handgun from his pants.
The struggle that quickly became an officer-involved shooting occurred in San Bernardino, California, outside of a liquor store late Thursday night.
The police had originally received a call about a man who was jumping on cars in a parking lot.
The suspect was later identified as 35-year-old Mark Matthew Bender Jr., reported local news.
When the officer responded to the scene by himself, the man refused commands, according to authorities. The officer called for backup, but additional officers had not yet arrived. – ABC7 Eyewitness News
The now viral video does not show the beginning of the incident.
This story is developing and time will tell if the incident will lead to a full-blown riot despite the footage showing the suspect pulling out what appears to be a gun during the struggle.
The threat of a riot is particularly concerning given that San Bernardino is one of the most dangerous cities in America.
Footage showing a poll worker using a pen to mark a ballot has sparked claims of voter fraud.
