A Saturday Night Live skit sent leftists into hysterics after a sketch dared to poke fun at Democrats’ Jan. 6 Committee proceedings.
NBC’s late night sketch comedy show kicked off with a skit mocking last Thursday’s Jan. 6 hearing, where the committee unveiled previously unseen footage showing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) scrambling amid Jan. 6’s so-called “insurrection.”

The skit brutally mocked committee members Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), who they deemed “too spooky.”

The sketch then moved on to footage from Jan. 6 presented during the hearing from a documentary shot by Pelosi’s daughter, which depicted the Democrat House Speaker and Sen. Schumer in a state of disarray as they attempted to bark orders to other lawmakers in the midst of the chaos, with SNL cast members Chloe Fineman and Sarah Sherman giving stellar performances as Pelosi and Schumer.
A portion of the skit posted to Twitter by SNL went ill-received by humorless leftists, who commented the sketch was “not funny” and made light of supposedly the worst day in American history.
I also watched the entire hearing. What SNL did tonight was irresponsible, so inaccurate and just not funny.

“You know when SNL is ridiculing the sacking of the Capitol, the media is all-in on fascism. Democracy was on life support, now the corporate media is putting a pillow over its head,” one offended leftist tweeted.

Another leftist compared the sketch to Disney’s Donald Duck-Hitler animation.
American humorists have misjudged the moment before. This is Disney in 1943. pic.twitter.com/BI29QUsSSQ

Others were disappointed the show, which typically catered to left-leaning political views, chose to mock Democrats.
Way down from the heyday of SNL. Unfunny. Certainly not satire. Picked wrong targets.

Completely tone-deaf. No joke (literally), this is in the running for worst SNL skit ever

Ha. Ha. Let’s make fun of efforts to stop the end of democracy. Disgusting. NBC has done more, along with Fox, to bring us to the precipice.

Another social media user sarcastically commented the show should “make a skit of a hijacked flight on 9/11” (a comparison echoed by suspected FBI leaker Peter Strzok the next day on MSNBC, where he called the September 11, 2001 terror attacks – where nearly 3,000 people died – “nothing” compared to Jan. 6th).
Trash tv/comedy. Why don’t you make a skit of a hijacked flight on 9/11 too?

The surprisingly funny sketch, which appeared to make fun of both sides of the political aisle, comes as ratings last week showed SNL had lost 300,000 viewers compared to its previous week.
Does the sketch’s brutal attack on Democrats mean SNL has seen the light and is staging a reversal of its previous anti-conservative comedy which alienated millions of viewers? The timing is certainly suspicious, as this all comes just weeks ahead of the midterms, where a giant Red Wave is anticipated.
