Leftists, progressive liberals and blue checkmark users alike suffered a collective meltdown on Twitter Thursday after Tesla CEO Elon Musk made an offer to purchase the social media company.

Musk, who had already bought close to 10% of Twitter earlier this month, offered to purchase the rest of the company at $54.20 a share for a total of $43 billion – or reconsider his position as a shareholder.

Despite the offer not yet being accepted, the prospect of Musk’s intervention threatening to disrupt the highly-censored liberal echo chamber sent left-leaning Twitter users into conniption fits.

CNN analyst Max Boot lamented the possibility Musk could allow free speech to thrive on the platform, claiming, “For democracy to survive, we need more content moderation, not less.”

Gun control advocate Fred Guttenberg confusingly said Musk’s offer to buy Twitter, which he speculates would result in Donald Trump’s return to the platform, made him second-guess buying a Tesla.

CUNY journalism professor Jeff Jarvis drew dramatic comparisons between Musk’s hostile takeover of Twitter and the German Reich, claiming it “feels like the last evening in a Berlin nightclub at the twilight of Weimar Germany.”

Former 2020 Democrat congressional nominee Pam Keith responded with profanity to Musk’s offer, telling him to “Fuck off!” and saying he runs a racist company.

Condé Nast legal affairs editor and former GQ author Luke Zaleski refused to acknowledge the possibility Musk could enact decent changes at the company.

Former Bill Clinton secretary of labor Robert Reich complained about an oligarch taking over a news source, evidently unfazed by Jeff Bezos’ ownership of the Washington Post.

“Trump must never be allowed back on Twitter,” Reich huffed.

Elie Mystal, an editor at the left-leaning The Nation magazine, remarked Musk’s offer represented a “racist white man… [making] it easier for his friends to be racist.”

UK author and former general manager of Opera Holland Park Michael Volpe drastically claimed the move meant the “end of the world basically.”

Then there were the hordes of users who threatened to leave the platform if the deal went through.

If all these people are freaking out over the mere prospect of Twitter’s sale, imagine the outrage when the deal actually happens.
