Lindsey Graham Calls On A Russian Citizen To Assassinate Putin Following Alleged Russian Assault on Ukrainian Nuclear Plant

During an interview with Fox News on Thursday night, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) suggested “somebody in Russia” assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“How does this end?” Graham rhetorically asked. “Somebody in Russia has to step up to the plate. Is there a Brutus in Russia? Is there a more successful Colonel Stauffenberg in the Russian military?”

“The only way this ends is for somebody in Russia to take this guy out. You would be doing your country a great service and the world a great service,” the politician added.

The bold statement comes on the heels of reports that Russian troops fired upon a Ukrainian nuclear plant, catching it on fire.

“As a result of shelling by Russian forces on the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, a fire broke out,” a spokesman for the plant said in a video posted on the plant’s Telegram account.

Zaporizhia is the largest nuclear power plant in all of Europe with six reactors.

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba posted to Twitter, saying the Russians were firing on the plant from all sides and that if it blew up, the devastation would be 10 times larger than Chernobyl.

Russian army is firing from all sides upon Zaporizhzhia NPP, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. Fire has already broke out. If it blows up, it will be 10 times larger than Chornobyl! Russians must IMMEDIATELY cease the fire, allow firefighters, establish a security zone!

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy released a video urging fighting at the plant to stop, and warning of a potential catastrophe.

Footage of the skirmish is already being posted to the internet.

Blurry footage appears to show military vehicles shooting at the power plant buildings.

The footage appears to show a line of military vehicles shooting at buildings inside the complex resulting in fires breaking out.

More footage claiming to reveal proof of the plant being attacked shows flares landing near the plant.

Foreign Policy reporter Jack Detsch posted to Twitter Thursday night, writing, “Zaporizhia’s regional state admin said safety of the nuclear power station is currently ensured.”
