Rapper Lizzo brought on a cadre of drag queens on stage at her all-ages concert to protest Tennessee’s law that bans “adult cabaret entertainment” in public where children are present.
Governor Bill Lee (R) signed the bill in March but it was temporarily halted by a federal judge who claimed it may violate the First Amendment.
The self-described “oppressed” performer kicked off her The Special 2our tour on Friday in Knoxville at the Thompson-Boling Arena, where she was flanked by numerous drag queens, including several contestants of Ru Paul’s Drag Race.

“In light of recent and tragic events and current events, I was told by people on the internet, ‘Cancel your shows in Tennessee,’ ‘Don’t go to Tennessee,’” Lizzo told the crowd. “Their reason was valid, but why would I not come to the people who need to hear this message the most? … Why would I not create a safe space in Tennessee where we can celebrate drag entertainers and celebrate our differences?”

“What people in Tennessee are doing is giving hope, so thank you so much for standing up for your rights, protecting each other and holding the people accountable who should be protecting us,” the rotund rapper continued.
Even Sesame Street character Elmo made an appearance on Lizzo’s tour.

Meanwhile, the media and Hollywood continue to ignore the families of the victims who were gunned down by a “trans” shooter at the Covenant Christian school in Nashville last month.
