HBO late night host Bill Maher excoriated The New York Times over its decision to “bury” the story of a radical leftist would-be assassin who was arrested outside the home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh this week.
On his Friday show “Real Time,” Maher noted that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D) made “inflammatory” remarks which could be interpreted as a call to violence against conservative Supreme Court justices.
“OK, and they stopped him. OK? But he was, he’s from California, Chuck Schumer said some very inflammatory words, the kind of thing that people on the right to say and there’s a horrible shooting and they blame it is rather comparable. And Chuck Schumer did walk it back. Nobody on the right ever does that. He did. I saw this, he did. He said, ‘We’re from Brooklyn. We speak too strongly.’ He said something about how they were talking about,” Maher said Friday.
The New York Times openly “buried” the story of the California man who vowed to murder Justice Kavanaugh, Maher added, knowing full well the newspaper would have plastered the story on the front page had the target been a liberal justice.
“This guy was upset that Brett Kavanaugh is going to overturn Roe vs. Wade. Okay? And, interesting, he was upset that he wasn’t doing enough for gun control and shows up with guns to kill him,” Maher told journalist Josh Barro. “So again, cuckoo people do cuckoo things. OK. The point is, I think your point, and the point I would agree with, is The New York Times buried this.”
“If this had been a liberal Supreme Court justice that someone came to kill, it would’ve been on the front page,” he noted. “And that’s what so disappointing about a paper like The New York Times. Because they wear their bias on their sleeves and if it’s not part of something that feeds our narrative, fuck it, we bury it.”

The would-be murderer told police he wanted to kill Kavanaugh over the court’s impending decision to possibly overturn Roe v Wade, and the recent spate of mass shootings in the country.
On a related note, CNN also downplayed the leftists’ failed assassination attempt on “both sides of the abortion debate”, despite all the evidence showing the left is overwhelmingly waging political violence against pro-life organizations and individuals in the wake of the leaked SCOTUS draft opinion.
