Military veterans have sparked a viral trend in response to reports Kamala Harris running mate Tim Walz abandoned his platoon prior to their deployment overseas.

Since his selection as Harris’ VP, members of Walz’s National Guard battalion are once again coming forward pointing out he’s not only embellishing his military career, but also that he abandoned them ahead of a 2005 deployment to Iraq despite assuring troops he’d go.

“Unlike @Tim_Walz, I actually deployed to Iraq!!” wrote veteran and daughter of former Trump adviser Steve Bannon, Maureen Bannon in an X post on Wednesday.

The photo sparked a trend on social media among military veterans upset Walz ditched his fellow servicemen.

There are countless more soldiers participating in the trend on X.

One other notable person who honorably served overseas was soldier Kyle Miller, who was killed by a roadside IED in Iraq in 2006. Miller was a member of the platoon that Walz failed to deploy with.
