Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador claims he spoke with US Vice President Kamala Harris about a “complete opening” of the border.
In a tweet disseminated Monday, AMLO wrote he met with Harris recently discussing how to address illegal immigration.
“We spoke again with Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States,” Obrador tweeted.
“In good terms, we dealt with the immigration issue, the complete opening of the northern border to reactivate our economies and continue with mutual cooperation to face the pandemic.”
Considering the large-scale invasion of illegal immigrants pouring into South Texas, many would assume the southern border is already “open.”
However, at the height of the Covid crisis in March 2020 the Trump administration closed the border to all non-essential travel to Mexico.
It’s unclear how re-opening the border, which was closed to prevent transmission of the virus, squares with the Biden administration’s Covid Delta variant fear-mongering.
Meanwhile, European leaders are complaining America has not re-opened its border to Europe, a travel restriction lifted by President Trump when he left office, and then re-imposed by the Biden administration.
