The next Trump administration is set to begin in a month.
A big topic of discussion is the proposed deportation of illegal aliens pledged by candidate Trump.
Will the Trump administration really go through with this? How big of a deportation will it actually be?
Time will tell, but Trump supporters would be well-advised to hold his feet to the fire.
One person taking the deportation threat seriously is none other than Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.
Sheinbaum has accepted that mass deportations could actually occur and her administration is preparing for it.
She has requested Trump not deport non-Mexican illegal aliens to Mexico, even though the majority of them entered the U.S. from her country. No big surprise there.
Mexico’s Excelsior recently reported on the efforts of Mexican Foreign Minister Juan Ramon de la Fuente, a smart guy who used to be the president of Mexico’s UNAM, the largest university in the Western Hemisphere.
“In the face of the massive deportation of immigrants without legal status on the part of President Donald Trump, once he takes office on January 20, the Government of Mexico has begun a strategy of protection of the Mexican community in the United States with a series of personnel meetings headed up by Foreign Minister Juan Ramon de la Fuente, along with heads of the consulates general of Mexico,” Excelsior reports (my translation).
For years, I’ve warned Americans about the influence of the Mexican consular network on U.S. soil. Most Americans, including conservatives, don’t give a hoot, but I keep trying.
Excelsior also reported on a meeting Foreign Minister De La Fuente held in Dallas, Texas, with the 11 (!) Mexican consuls based in the Lone Star State, along with the Mexican consuls serving in Albuquerque and Oklahoma City.
(Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt recently named Mexican Consul Edurne Pineda to a state labor task force. So much for the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. Or does Stitt consider the Mexican government the fourth branch of Oklahoma government?)
The goal of Mexico’s foreign service, Excelsior reports, is to expedite paperwork processes for “Mexican migrants” (in this context meaning illegal aliens) so they can have birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates and passports ready “before a possible deportation.”
Foreign Minister De La Fuente met with lawyers who provide “free legal advice and representation on matters of migration, civil, criminal and family law,” which is provided to the “female and male fellow Mexicans” (sounds weird in Spanish too).
According to Foreign Minister De La Fuente, “In all the consulates we have a group of legal advisors who are allowing us to understand clearly what the various types of migratory laws are in each state of the U.S., because they are not all the same, and overall, forming community alliances so all of us, female and male, can be working in the same dynamic.”
Additionally, Foreign Secretary De La Fuente visited an ICE processing center in Dallas “to converse with authorities and four Mexican persons in process of removal to whom they expressed the support of Mexico and the follow-up to their cases.”
On December 18, President Sheinbaum “addressed dozens of immigrant leaders from across the southwestern United States who gathered inside the El Paso Philanthropy Theatre. ‘We send you a warm greeting, our recognition. Our immigrant brothers and sisters in the Untied [sic] States are heroes who have succeeded with courage, and we will not only recognize you always but also support you. And know that your home is here, always,’ Sheinbaum told the crowd in El Paso,” NewsNation reported in English.
Well hey, if their home is really in Mexico, why don’t they all go there?
(The reference to “Untied States” was an error in the English version, not the Spanish original. Still, it makes one think…)
By this time, Foreign Minister De La Fuente was in El Paso, planning to continue on to Chicago and the West Coast to meet with “Mexican leaders.”
It’s the usual Mexican meddling, right under our noses.
Yet, it does appear that Mexico’s government is planning to receive many deported illegal aliens.
So let’s not disappoint them.
