A criminal alien from El Salvador who is wanted for multiple killings in his home country was arrested in Iowa, according to authorities.
On Friday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the recent apprehension of 28-year-old Luis Enrique Baires in Des Moines.
Enrique Baires is wanted for two counts of aggravated homicide in El Salvador.
He is also wanted on two counts of proposition and conspiracy for the crime of aggravated homicide, and one count of illicit associations with Mara Salvatrucha, an international criminal network and terrorist organization known as MS-13.

Enrique Baires was busted during a traffic stop on Feb. 21 in Des Moines and taken into custody by ICE Saint Paul with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service.
“Rural Iowa is not immune from central American criminals like Baires, and we will continue to face the challenge of tracking down and arresting the worst of the worst,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations St. Paul Field Office Director Matthew Putra.
“Thanks to U.S. Marshals Service for assisting us in this arrest to keep communities safe.”
Enrique Baires remains in ICE custody without bail pending removal proceedings.
