Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice claimed Sunday that Joe Biden’s Ukraine policies are going “in the right direction” but are still “a little bit behind.”
The U.S. has so far provided over $100 billion in total aid to Ukraine over the last year, but according to the notorious neocon and proponent of the pointless Iraq War, that’s just not enough.
“I think in general, in total, the policy is in the right direction, you have to support Ukraine, you have to do it as much as you can, as a part of a coalition, it’s really important that the Europeans are on board. And I’ve been impressed with what they’ve been able to achieve with the Europeans in creating that, that unity. And in a sense, NATO has never been in better shape,” Rice said on CBS News’ “Face the Nation.”
“But I do think we sometimes seem to be a little bit behind in what we provide to the Ukrainians,” the former Bush official said.
Rice’s remarks are out of step with the majority of the American people, who don’t want America to have a major role in the Ukraine conflict, according to a recent AP poll.
This comes after Biden declared in an ABC interview on Friday that Ukraine “doesn’t need F-16s now.“
“I’m ruling it out for now,” Biden said.
But given Biden eventually began providing Leopard tanks to Ukraine after previously ruling it out, it likely won’t be long until the U.S. begins sending F-16s to Ukraine and consequently escalating tensions with nuclear-armed Russia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously stated that efforts by the U.S. to send more advanced and increasingly long-range weaponry to Ukraine is essentially an act of war.
“The more long-range Western systems are being delivered to Ukraine, the farther we will be forced to move the threat from our borders,” Putin warned last week.
