Democrat New York Gov. Kathy Hochul told New Yorkers they should consider dusting off their trusty old Covid face masks in order to combat the state’s poor air quality being caused by Canadian wildfires.
The governor, installed after former Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo was ousted over a sex scandal, told constituents masks would “make a difference” against smoke that has turned the Big Apple’s skies orange.
Claiming, “This is not over,” Hochul at a press conference Thursday told New Yorkers to be on guard because at any moment the winds could shift and bring a huge plume of smoke to the city.

The governor went on to display an N95 face mask before claiming it would help protect against smoke particle inhalation.
“This is our old friend, one you never wanted to see again perhaps, but this mask can make a difference,” Hochul claimed, adding she’d seen a masked jogger earlier in the day.

“But even indoors,” she added.
“If you have a situation where you don’t have air conditioning, you have a situation where you’re not feeling good inside continue to put this on this will make a big difference for people.”
Gov. Hochul then ordered 1 million N95 masks to be distributed statewide.
Images pouring out of New York City showed how smoke from the wildfires in Alberta, Canada, blotted out the sun and left New Yorkers in an orange haze.
Fox News host Laura Ingraham highlighted how liberals in the big cities seemed almost excited to be able to wear face masks again.
The governor’s message about masks was also scrutinized on social media.
Ahead of the governor’s message, liberals were already salivating over the prospect of having to eternally wear the masks.
As many are pointing out, if masks didn’t work for Covid, why would they work for smoke?
