House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she hopes Democrats will do whatever is necessary to remove President Trump from office, but that she would prefer to use the 25th Amendment.
In a not-yet-aired “60 Minutes” interview on Sunday, host Leslie Stahl lamented that Trump could soon leave office without “punishment” and someday run for office again.
“There is a possibility that after all of this, there’s no punishment, no consequence, and he could run again for president,” Stahl complained.
Pelosi explained that Democrats are preparing to impeach Trump a second time and invoke the 25th Amendment against him to ensure that he’s deposed from office.
“And that’s one of the motivations people have for advocating for impeachment,” Pelosi responded. “I like the 25th Amendment because it gets rid of him. He’s out of office. But there’s strong support in the Congress for impeaching the president a second time.”
Pelosi added that though Trump could pardon himself on the federal level, he could not do so at the state level, of which the Southern District of New York is taking full advantage.
“He can only pardon himself from federal offenses. He cannot pardon himself from state offenses and that’s where he’s being investigated in the state of New York,” Pelosi said.
When asked who is “running the executive branch” right now, Pelosi asserted that it was being run by a “deranged, unhinged, dangerous president of the United States.”
“And we’re only a number of days until we can be protected from him.”
Of course, Biden has every intention of protecting the elites from any form of accountability whatsoever.
