In an unprecedented move, the mainstream media has not been using Trump’s 2016 election results as the baseline on how he needs to perform Tuesday.

Traditionally, the states the incumbent won in the previous election are by default assumed to be his to lose, but for 2020, mainstream polls suddenly decide to put many of these states in play for Biden despite voter enthusiasm clearly being in favor of Trump.

“The media now position President Trump’s opposition Joe Biden as if he has already won states and Trump needs to win them back,” said Sundance of The Last Refuge. “Essentially they flip the baseline to build upon their skewed and false polling narratives.”

“They never did this with any prior elections.”

Denying Trump his previous victories makes it easier for the mainstream media to falsely assert a harder path to victory, Sundance added.

This election season’s unprecedented framing against Trump could potentially blow up in the polling industry’s face, pollster Frank Luntz warns.

“Well, I hate to acknowledge it, because that’s my industry — at least partially — but the public will have no faith. No confidence,” said Luntz to Fox News. “Right now, the biggest issue is the trust deficit. And pollsters did not do a good job in 2016.”

“So if Donald Trump surprises people, if Joe Biden had a 5- or 6-point lead, my profession is done.”

Much like in 2016, this election may once again expose the so-called experts as simply narrative peddlers.
