Russian President Vladimir Putin talked with BRICS leaders on Thursday, making remarks about the dangerous Middle East situation threatening to drag the world into a global conflict.

Seated beside Chinese President Xi Jinping, Putin said, “The degree of confrontation between Israel and Iran has sharply increased. All this resembles a chain reaction and puts the entire Middle East on the brink of a full-scale war.”
The Russian leader explained Israel’s bombings in Gaza have expanded to neighboring nations such as Lebanon.

Russia and other BRICS countries have been trying to come up with a resolution to the Middle East tensions, Putin noted.
“An independent Palestinian state must be established that would peacefully coexist with Israel. Fixing this unfairness towards the Palestinian people can serve as a guarantee of peace in the Middle East, and until this matter is resolved, this vicious circle of violence will not be broken.”
Jinping promoted an Israeli ceasefire in Gaza and an immediate stop to Israel’s attacks on Lebanon.
The Chinese president also called on Russia and Ukraine to also come to an agreement in the near future, saying, “We need to work for an early de-escalation of the situation and pave the way for a political settlement.”
With 45% of the global population now living in BRICS countries, the group appears to be quite the thorn in the side of Western elites.
