Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) conducted his annual airing of grievances targeting wasteful government spending and establishment politicians in accordance with Festivus Wednesday.
Celebrating the fictional holiday created on the sitcom Seinfeld, Sen. Paul took the occasion seriously this year, directing his ire toward “petty tyrants and congressional waste,” and creating a 139-page report dedicated to exposing $54 million in wasteful spending.
Much like everything else this year though, this year’s #Festivus will be a bit more serious. The petty tyrants rules and Congressional waste MUST be exposed and ended.

First, he credited President Trump for beating him to the punch to highlight massive wasteful spending hidden inside the 5,500+ page omnibus stimulus package recently passed by Congress.
Sen. Paul documented a litany of government programs that seemingly have no use to the American people whatsoever.

$130 million to promote democracy in Nepal. $15 million to promote it in Pakistan. Interesting, since we can’t even seem to validate mail in ballots in the United States properly.

$33 billion to promote Democracy in Venezuela. That seems to be going well so far.
— Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) December 23, 2020
OH WAIT I FOUND IT. We are going to promote Democracy in America with $132 million in “assistance for GEORGIA.” No, wait, that’s the former Soviet Republic, never mind.

In my favorite WTF moment of the #Festivus Waste report: Your government spent $4.5 million to spray alcoholic rats with bobcat urine.
— Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) December 23, 2020
The government is never content to just waste money normally. They have to really put their shoulders into it. So this year, the Defense Department spent $1 BILLION in funds intended for Covid relief on unrelated acquisitions.

What’s next, government funding to get people to post more about their CrossFit and Keto programs?
— Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) December 23, 2020
So this year, while the petty tyrants in many of our states closed the schools (against all science), Congress said oh, we can do better than that. So they spent $25 MILLION to teach English to rural, unemployed Romanians.

On auditing the Federal Reserve:

On President Trump vetoing 2021 NDAA:
Speaking of things President Trump opposes, by all accounts he is going to veto the NDAA. Do you want to know what’s important in Congress? They’re going to call us all back to try to override his veto, because they want to make sure he can’t end a war.
— Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) December 23, 2020
Liz Cheney & others in the war caucus are so hell-bent on continuing their endless wars, they will call a special session, over holidays, fly everyone back to DC (remember when that was a problem) JUST to make sure wars don’t end. That’s probably my biggest grievance of the day.
— Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) December 23, 2020
On NIH Director Dr. Anthony Fauci:
The good news is, he’s proved his worth this year. He has shown us his skills and where he truly belongs. I’ve asked for special approval to put him on the Congressional baseball team as the new pitcher for the GOP. It actually couldn’t be much worse than out usual crew.

Sen. Paul on “petty tyrants” and his Festivus wish for kids to go back to school:
My #Festivus wish is that all kids can be back in school in 2021, and that petty tyrants who screamed to “follow the science” then ignored it about schools will suffer the consequences. Surely they’ve made the kids and parents suffer enough in 2020.

On Trump:

Sen. Paul says to keep fighting for your freedoms:
One of the things both the waste and the actions of petty tyrants should show us — DO NOT BLINDLY TRUST those in power. Think for yourselves. Protect your freedom.
