Report: UK Teacher’s Unions Had Govt Mandate Masks For Kids Out Of Fear, Not Based On Science

British teacher’s unions pressured the Department of Education to force children to wear masks during the Covid pandemic, a recent article published by The Daily Telegraph details.

Titled, “Children forced into face masks after fears teachers might not show up,” the article explains masks were required for schoolchildren “despite warnings from scientists that masks were unlikely to halt the spread of the omicron variant.”

Government documents provided to The Telegraph reveal how teacher’s unions threatened the Department for Education in order to get their way.

For example, the unions warned teachers would strike if they didn’t feel safe enough at work.

Worried about a shortage of teachers, health ministers caved and mandated masks despite the potential negative impact on students.

“At the time many of us warned that [face masks in schools] would be terribly damaging to children, their education and wellbeing,” said former conservative party leader Sir Iain Duncan Smith. “It appears that they abandoned the risk to children in favour of threats from militant teachers.”

In fact, the UK government is aware masking children provided no protection from Covid and actually hindered learning and mental health as their own studies concluded.
