Congressional Republicans are set to approve a massive spending bill which would give the FBI billions more in funding despite revelations from the Twitter Files showing the FBI colluded with Twitter to censor users.

According to a summary of the $84.2 billion 2023 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies funding bill by the House Appropriations Committee, the FBI will receive $11.33 billion in funding “to investigate extremist violence and domestic terrorism.”

The total is reportedly $569.6 million more than the 2022 fiscal year budget.

This comes after the Twitter Files released by CEO Elon Musk revealed the FBI worked with Twitter to censor dissenting users who spoke out against everything from COVID-19 to climate change.

Additionally, the Twitter Files revealed the FBI coordinated with Twitter to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story ahead of the 2020 presidential election.

The FBI also paid Twitter $3.5 million as compensation for fulfilling its censorship requests between October 2019 and February 2021.

Twitter had also employed many former FBI employees such as lawyer James Baker.

The spending bill not only gives the FBI a large funding boost, but also earmarks $1.75 billion – $215.9 million above the fiscal year 2022 – to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to combat “gun violence.”

$2.63 billion of additional funding has also been set up for U.S. attorneys to “support prosecutions related to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol and domestic terrorism cases.”

Incoming Republican chairman of the House Oversight Committee Rep. James Comer (Ky.) called on Tuesday for the FBI to be denied funding until the bureau explains its role in censoring Americans.

“We need to halt everything with the FBI, all funding, until they come forward and explain to Congress exactly what they were doing, why they were doing it, and who gave them the authority to do it,” Comer told Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo.

“In no way shape or form should the government be in the business of censoring free speech, whether that be liberal speech, or conservative speech. That’s just something the government shouldn’t do,” he continued.

“But to dedicate a whole taskforce of at least 80 employees to do nothing but communicate with social media sites and telling them what stories to suppress, who to ban, it’s just wrong. It’s a — it’s a gross misuse of taxpayer dollars. It’s a violation of the Constitution. And to think that as we speak, the Senate sitting here giving them more money for the next 12 months, tying our hands and our ability to get the FBI in front of the committee,” he added.

Meanwhile, Senate Republicans have approved of the $1.7 trillion omnibus bill for 2023, setting up for a showdown with House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy, who vowed to oppose the bill, which must be approved by Friday to avoid a government shutdown.

The 4,155-page bill includes massive pork for Congressional pet projects and other asinine initiatives related to LGBTQ programs, preventing the U.S. border patrol from enforcing border security while earmarking billions to protect Ukraine’s border, “family planning” for areas that “threaten biodiversity,” and a “Michelle Obama trail” project.
