UK comedian and podcaster Russell Brand got into a heated debate with MSNBC analyst John Heilemann while explaining how the news network devolved into “propagandist nut-crackery” during COVID.

During his Friday appearance on Maher’s “Real Time,” Brand blamed the media for the shutting down debate surrounding COVID, hitting at MSNBC in particular, on behalf of Big Pharma and Wall Street.

“It’s difficult to suggest that’s because these corporations operate as anything other than mouthpieces for their affiliate owners in Blackrock and Vanguard,” Brand said. “We’ve have to take responsibility for our own perspective.”

“I’ve been on that MSNBC. Man, it was a propagandist nut-crackery over there. No one could concentrate, they didn’t understand the basic tenets of journalism.”

“No one was willing to stick up for genuine American heroes like Edward Snowden,” he continued. “No one was willing to talk about Julian Assange and what he’s suffered – trying to bring real journalism to the American people.”

Predictably, Heilemann didn’t take kindly to the “Get Him To The Greek” actor’s remarks.

“You don’t actually know anything about any of these organizations you’re talking about,” Heilemann snapped. “You’ve been on MSNBC once – big f***ing deal! You don’t have a single actual fact.”

Brand rattled off several examples of MSNBC putting out fake news and “nut-crackery” as he called it, such as attacking Joe Rogan for taking ivermectin and anchor Rachel Maddow claiming on air that, “If you take this vaccine you’re not gonna get it.”

Heilemann dismissed Brand’s argument without offering a retort.

Brand also warned that Big Pharma and the military industrial complex are incentivized to keep America in a state of “perpetual crisis.”

“If you have an economic system in which pharmaceutical companies benefit hugely from medical emergencies, where a military-industrial complex benefits from war, where energy companies benefit from energy crisis, you are going to get states of perpetual crisis where the interests of ordinary people, separate from the interests of the elite,” Brand asserted.
