Paul Massaro, a senior policy advisor to the U.S. Congress on counter-corruption, sanctions and European security policy, posted and deleted a picture of himself wearing a patch of the infamous Ukrainian Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandera.

Bandera served as an agent of Nazi Germany’s military intelligence during WWII and was accused of leading his supporters to murder upwards of 133,000 Polish citizens who were mostly women, children and unarmed men.

Killed in 1959 by a KGB agent, Bandera has become an idol of the far-right nationalist movement in Ukraine which often displays Nazi symbolism such as the swastika and sonnenrad Black Sun in their marches and tattoos.

Journalist and YouTuber Ian Miles Cheong captured and posted a screenshot of the now-deleted photo, writing, “Paul Massaro is proving Russia’s point that Ukraine needs to be denazified. Good job.”

Next, Cheong accused Massaro of going “full Nazi” and the congressional advisor answered by claiming the journalist is “seeing Nazis everywhere but where they really are.”

Cheong noted Massaro hardly has a leg to stand on after posting the Azov banner and wearing his Bandera patch.

To this, Massaro said the neo-Nazi symbols “are important to Ukrainians in their struggle to defend the free world.”

Cheong told Massaro there is no justification for supporting Nazis, and the “corruption expert” Massaro explained he supports the openly neo-Nazi Azov brigade because they made a “heroic last stand at Azovstal and are considered heroes in Ukraine.”

So, despite their affinity for Nazi symbolism and anti-semitic ideology, his hatred of Russia has convinced Massaro to support the far-right nationalists.

“Ridiculous,” Cheong responded. “Do better. You can support Ukraine without supporting Nazism.”

In a tweet explaining why he deleted the image, Massaro admitted he did so “at the request of a good Polish friend” – perhaps because Bandera and his followers massacred over one hundred thousand innocent Polish citizens during World War II.

So, Massaro apparently ended up listening to a “friend” of his who simply made the same point Cheong was trying to make.

Massaro has previously been accused of being a CIA propagandist by legendary tech entrepreneur Kim Dotcom who connected the congressional advisor to a Ukrainian meme war movement.

The U.S. senior advisor is associated with an “internet army” called NAFO, or the North Atlantic Fellas Organization, which is a group of pro-Ukraine internet users who make memes and post anti-Russian propaganda on sites like Twitter.

It’s amazing to see the American far-left, which was shrieking about Nazis in the U.S. government during the Trump administration, now publicly support actual Nazi sympathizers like the Azov battalion and mass murderers like Bandera.
