A man out for a bike ride was struck by a speeding driver who circled back and stabbed the victim to death while yelling about ‘white privilege’ in California this week, according to reports.
The horrifying incident unfolded at around 3 p.m. on Wednesday in Dana Point, a coastal city in Orange County.
Michael John Mammone, a 58-year-old ER doctor and married father of two, was sitting on his bicycle at an intersection on the Pacific Coast Highway when a speeding car plowed into him from behind, sending his body and bike flying through the air, surveillance footage shows.
The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Vanroy Evan Smith, reportedly returned to the scene, exited his vehicle, and began stabbing Mammone as he lay seriously injured in the road.

Bystanders managed to subdue Smith until police arrived.
Mammone was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died.
Witnesses told ABC7 they heard the suspect yelling “racial slurs about ‘white privilege.’”
Authorities do not believe there was any prior connection between the two men.
Smith was arrested and charged with murder.
An investigation is ongoing.
