Two people are dead and at least six more wounded after a ‘teen’ suspect opened fire during a busy Halloween festival in Orlando this week, authorities say.
The horrifying incident unfolded just after 1 a.m. on Friday morning as revelers were gathered downtown to celebrate the holiday.
A suspect walking through a crowd at a busy intersection suddenly drew a firearm and began firing at unsuspecting victims, video shows.
Moments later, he opened fire again.
The Orlando Police Department (OPD) has released surveillance footage of the shooting along with video captured via body-cam worn by an officer who tackled the suspect amid the pandemonium.

The suspect can be seen creeping around an OPD pickup truck before being knocked over by fleeing pedestrians.
When he stands up, he is immediately confronted by an OPD officer who throws him to the ground as other officers jump in to neutralize him and place him in handcuffs.
“Shortly after the initial shots were reported, a suspect was located by officers on OPD’s Downtown Detail and taken into custody at Washington St. and Orange Ave,” OPD explained in a statement.
“That suspect has been identified as 17-year-old Jaylen Dwayne Edgar, who was previously arrested for Grand Theft in 2023.”

Two victims were pronounced dead following the shooting while six more were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center in stable condition.
The victims ranged in age from 19 to 39 years old.
“Whatever his mindset was, he was gonna shoot no matter what,” OPD Chief Eric Smith stated during a press conference. “He walked by multiple officers, we followed where he came. He knew what he was going to do, what he thought his mind was going to do.”

OPD says Edgar is being charged as an adult with two counts of First-Degree Murder with a Firearm and six counts of Attempted First Degree Murder with a Firearm.
An investigation is ongoing.
