A pack of armed thieves were sent scrambling when a resident opened fire as they attempted to break into a Washington home this week, authorities say.
The harrowing incident unfolded at around 2 a.m. on Thursday in Auburn, a city the Seattle suburbs.
Police were called to the scene of a home invasion thwarted by an armed resident.
The Auburn Police Department (APD) has released surveillance footage of what transpired.
In the video, three masked suspects wearing hooded jackets and brandishing pistols can be seen storming up the steps of a home.
“Seattle police!” one suspect shouts as he and a comrade begin kicking the door together.
When they are unsuccessful at forcing entry, the third suspect jumps in and manages to force the door open.
At the same moment, bullets start flying from inside the home as the resident opens fire.
The suspects flee for their lives amid a hail of gunfire.
“If you recognize any of these individuals, please contact the Auburn Police Department tip line at 253-288-7403,” APD requested in a press release.
