Edmond, Oklahoma, residents are throwing their support behind a high school student who was punished by the local school district for daring to fly an American flag on the back of his pickup truck.

Edmond High School senior Caleb Horst was suddenly informed earlier this month he could no longer fly the flag despite it being on his vehicle for “quite a while.”

The school requested Horst remove his flag despite no existing policy banning him from flying Old Glory.

“I’ve never really had problems with it before, and it’s our First Amendment, so it’s kind of hard for them to infringe upon our rights,” Horst told KOCO.

A week after the news spread around town, dozens of Edmond locals rallied behind Horst by placing U.S. flags in the ground on campus and driving by the school with huge flags on their vehicles.

Dukes of Hazzard star John Schneider even issued a message of support for Horst and the rest of the patriots in Edmond.

The pushback shows average citizens aren’t going to be bullied and silenced by America-hating leftists trying to destroy the First Amendment.
