JD Vance is currently the frontrunner to succeed Donald Trump, according to a straw poll conducted after Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest event, held in Phoenix, Arizona just before Christmas.
The majority of respondents, 58%, said that Vance should succeed Donald Trump in 2028. Donald Trump Jr. was a distant second, with 17%, followed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, with 6%. The remaining 11% said they were undecided.
Thirty-five percent of respondents said they believed California Governor Gavin Newsom would be the Democrat nominee in 2028. Less than 20% believed it would be Kamala Harris or Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. Four percent said Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and 1.6% said Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
Respondents were also asked which Trump cabinet picks they were most excited about. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has been picked to lead Health and Human Services, and Kash Patel, Trump’s FBI pick, were the most popular.
