Brazilian judge Alexandre de Moraes on Thursday blocked the financial accounts of Elon Musk’s company Starlink over a free speech feud the nation is having with his social media company X.
After Moraes demanded X appoint a legal representative in Brazil and Musk refused, the judge made the illegal move to freeze the accounts for Starlink despite it being a separate legal entity.
Any X legal representative in Brazil would have reportedly been arrested, leading Musk to refuse the “demand.”
Musk responded to the Starlink news online, writing, “The tyrant, Alexandre de Moraes, is dictator of Brazil. Lula is his lapdog,” and, “This guy Alexandre de Moraes is an outright criminal of the worst kind, masquerading as a judge.”

“Correct,” the X owner wrote in response to a post stating, “Brazil is now a dictatorship. It is run by two men, President @LulaOficial and Supreme Court Justice @Alexandre de Moraes. They are today ending both freedom of speech and free markets. Brazil is no longer safe for foreign investment and its currency should reflect that.”
