A Venezuelan ‘migrant’ with suspected ties to the ultra-violent Tren de Aragua gang has been arrested for sexually assaulting an adult female and physically abusing a child in small-town Wisconsin this week, authorities say.
The disturbing incident unfolded just after 12 p.m. on Thursday afternoon in Prairie du Chien, a city of approximately 5,500 residents on the Wisconsin – Iowa border.
Officers were alerted about a “physical disturbance” involving a male suspect who “had been physically and sexually violent towards an adult female,” according to the Prairie du Chien Police Department (PCPD).
“A female juvenile was also located and found to have been injured during the physical altercation that took place.”

The suspect was identified as Alejandro Jose Coronel Zarate, a 26-year-old Venezuelan citizen whose immigration status is currently unclear.
Coronel Zarate was booked into Crawford County Jail on a slew of charges, including Domestic Battery, Strangulation/Suffocation, Physical Abuse to a Child, Disorderly Conduct, and two counts of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault.
Authorities determined Coronel Zarate likely has connections to the Tren de Aragua gang that has terrorized South America for years and is now wreaking havoc across the U.S.
“Mr. Coronel Zarate was brought to Prairie du Chien from the Dane County area. The victims in this case knew Mr. Coronel Zarate, this was not a random event,” PCPD explained in a statement.
“This incident highlights the need to be aware of the dangers that affiliates of these transnational criminal organizations pose to our communities.”
