The president of the second largest teachers union in the U.S. signaled her support for vaccine mandates in schools.

American Federation of Teachers (AFT) president Randi Weingarten told MSNBC on Sunday that her organization was working with schools and teachers on implementing vaccine mandates for the fall term.

“As a matter of personal conscious, I think that we need to be working with our employers, not opposing them on vaccine mandates,” she told “Meet The Press” host Chuck Todd.

“And so I said last week that I wanted to bring my leadership together, and we are this week to, you know, revisit and to reconsider our policy that we passed in October about voluntary, that the best way to do this was to do it volitionally,” she said, adding that about 90 percent of teachers got the shot.

Weingarten lamented that the experimental mRNA injection hasn’t yet been approved for children under 12 years old.

“But I do think that the circumstances have changed and that vaccination is a community responsibility,” she quickly added, “and it weighs really heavily on me that kids under 12 can’t get vaccinated.”

What Weingarten failed to mention or realize is that children are the least at-risk demographic when it comes to COVID infection.
