A mother shot a man who attempted to break into her home Friday, report police in Sugar Land, Texas.
Sugar Land PD said the mom, who was inside with her 8-year-old child, grabbed her gun when she heard a noise outside at around 4:30AM.
“The homeowner shot a man attempting to break into her home,” the Sugar Land Police Department reported.
“The man ran away and was found in a neighbors yard. He was transported by ambulance to the medical center with a gunshot wound to the chest.”
Police believe the man may have been attempting to carry out a burglary, underscoring the importance of owning a firearm for home defense.
