The Purge Of RT News Continues As DirecTV Cuts Off Broadcasts in U.S.

The coordinated wiping out of existence of RT News continued Tuesday night as DirecTV terminated its contract to show RT America news broadcasts with immediate effect.

In a statement, DirecTV noted “In line with our previous agreement with RT America, we are accelerating this year’s contract expiration timeline and will no longer offer their programming effective immediately.”

The move comes after The National Association of Broadcasters announced that US broadcasting companies should “cease carrying any state-sponsored programming with ties to the Russian government or its agents.”

The NAB cited “the unprovoked aggression exhibited by Russia against the free and sovereign people of Ukraine,” as justification for the likes of RT to be blocked.

As we noted yesterday, in Europe big tech has moved in lockstep to censor Russian news networks Sputnik and RT, further ensuring that westerners only receive one narrative when it comes to coverage of the conflict in Ukraine.

Facebook, Twitter, Google, Netflix and Tiktok have all blocked Russian News broadcasts and content, seemingly at the behest of the EU which announced it will ban the networks from broadcasting on television.

DirecTV recently also announced that it is dropping conservative network One America News over ‘misinformation’.
