Kristi Leigh of KLTV.news reports from the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas to document the consistent flow of illegal immigrants entering through the Catholic Charities of the RGV.
Over 1,000 illegals come through the facility every day.
Leigh also reported from outside a La Joya Whataburger restaurant where an illegal immigrant family was seen coughing and sneezing without facemasks, which concerned the staff.
A police officer at the Whataburger talked with the family and learned they had been released by Border Patrol once the agency found out they were Covid-positive.
At that point, Border Patrol brought them to the Catholic Charities of the RGV.
The group then paid for a hotel room where the family could “quarantine,” but clearly they were not doing so when eating at the restaurant.
Upon learning this information, the officer did some digging and found out the charity had booked every room at that one hotel.
According to CBS DFW, “La Joya also said that Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley didn’t tell them that they were placing COVID stricken people at the Texas Inn Hotel.”
Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez has asked Border Patrol to stop sending Covid-positive illegal aliens into his county’s cities.
“We have been doing well as a community in slowing the spread of this deadly virus. But ill-conceived policies by both the federal and state governments are beginning to have serious consequences for Hidalgo County,” said Judge Cortez. “I call on federal immigration officials to stop releasing infected migrants into our community and am further calling on Governor Abbott to return to Hidalgo County the safety tools he took away that would help us slow the spread of this disease. This is unacceptable.”
