A town in California is attempting to bribe high school students into receiving the Covid jab with a raffle for a college scholarship.

In a Facebook post by the City of Lancaster, due north of Los Angeles, an announcement says the city’s mayor, R. Rex Parris, is conducting a raffle for “Students of Lancaster ages 16-18 who have received their COVID-19 vaccine!”

“Teens who are 16-18 years of age, residents of Lancaster, and can provide documentation that they received their full COVID-19 vaccine by June 30 are eligible to win,” the post states, going on to list three top prizes ranging from $50 to $10,000.

The post notes the money will be taken from a scholarship fund, not taxpayer dollars, and claims the mayor and city council “receive no financial benefit from the COVID-19 vaccine.”

The effort reeks of desperation as city and state officials inanely attempt to tie the lifting of lockdown orders to vaccination.

Meanwhile, hospitalization rates for COVID-19 in California to decline, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“California is now at the bottom of the nation when it comes to coronavirus case rates,” the paper reported Wednesday.
