President Donald Trump said Thursday he plans to sit down for an interview with The Atlantic‘s Jeffrey Goldberg, despite the reporter’s “SignalGate” leak that rocked his administration last month.

“Later today I will be meeting with, of all people, Jeffrey Goldberg, the Editor of The Atlantic, and the person responsible for many fictional stories about me, including the made-up HOAX on ‘Suckers and Losers’ and, SignalGate, something he was somewhat more ‘successful’ with,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social update, adding, “Jeffrey is bringing with him Michael Scherer and Ashley Parker, not exactly pro-Trump writers, either, to put it mildly!”

The president went on to say he’s doing the interview partly out of curiosity over the article’s running title, and also to see if The Atlantic could be “truthful,” adding that it can’t hurt him either way because he’s already won.

“The story they are writing, they have told my representatives, will be entitled, ‘The Most Consequential President of this Century.’ I am doing this interview out of curiosity, and as a competition with myself, just to see if it’s possible for The Atlantic to be ‘truthful.'”

Goldberg was inadvertently added to a Signal group chat last month where senior Trump officials discussed missile strikes soon-to-be carried out in Yemen that later ended up actually happening.

Throughout his career, Goldberg has been criticized for promoting questionable narratives, including his 2002 reporting contributing to the weapons of mass destruction hysteria that helped justify the US invasion of Iraq, which led to hundreds of thousands of deaths.

As noted by POTUS, The Atlantic editor additionally penned a false story in 2020 claiming Trump called American soldiers “suckers and losers” in private, comments the president vehemently denied making.
