US Troops stationed at the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar received a surprise set from comedian and podcast host Theo Von at the behest of President Donald Trump.
The stand-up comic, whose show This Past Weekend was part of Trump’s 2024 campaign podcast tour widely credited for clinching the election – kicked off the event and later received a special shout-out from the president.
âI also want to influence you to clap for a man who is a great influencer,â Trump told Air Force troops.
âIn fact, my son Barron said, âDad, youâve got to do an interview withâ somebody I hadnât heard of, but my son knew very wellâhe knows everyone,â Trump said. âHe said, âDadââthis is before the election, you know, we won in a landslide in case you hadnât knownâbut he said, âDad, you got to do an interview with a guy named Theo Von.ââ
“I said ‘Who the hell is Theo Von?” Trump joked, crediting Barron with “knowing the names” and making the interview happen.
The comedian delivered a 23-minute set for troops, with whom he also posed for selfies.

During the set, Von also touched on a recent viral video of him seen getting into a bar fight.
Von was also recently pictured with President Trump’s daughter Ivanka and husband Jared Kushner.
Predictably, the leftist media criticized the Trump admin’s morale-boosting gesture.
The Associated Press dissected the contents of Von’s jokes and questioned whether some were appropriate for the Qatari audience. The Daily Beast also claimed Trump “[Ordered] Troops to Applaud” for Von, while a New York Daily News headline mentioned Von was in Qatar “On Heels of Alleged Assault” – despite a DA refusing to pursue assault charges following an investigation.
