Next Sunday’s Trump rally at Madison Square Garden sold out in just three hours, according to the man himself.
The former president was talking to Matthew Boyle of Breitbart News when he disclosed the astounding fact about the event, which will take place on Sunday 27 October at 5pm EST.
“We sold it out in less than three hours. But people are going to come anyway. We have big screens outside. It’s going to be unbelievable. So come anyway. I mean, come, maybe you get in, I don’t know, but it sold out very quickly,” Trump said.
“It’s fantastic. It’s going to be fantastic.”
Speaking to Breitbart in December of last year, Trump said he wanted to hold a rally in Madison Square Garden, because it’s “the belly of the beast.”
Although New York itself may be “the belly of the beast,” and unlikely to flip for Trump, that hasn’t stopped the Trump campaign from targeting New Yorkers with focused messaging about their woes under Democrat rule.
“Since Kamala took office, the average New York household has been forced to spend an additional $28,537, including $4,282 more on food, $4,918 more on shelter, $3,992 more on energy, and $8,912 more on transportation,” the Trump campaign stated, in a post on its website.
“These disastrous economic policies are draining the bank accounts of hardworking New Yorkers.”
The campaign is looking to use the huge rally at the iconic venue, which hosted the “Fight of the Century” between Muhammed Ali and Joe Frazier in 1971, to frame a formal “closing argument” for the campaign, as election day draws near.
“The Madison Square Garden event that we have a week from tomorrow will be the formal introduction of the closing debate that we’re going to have here, the closing framing of this race, the choice between the two candidates,” Jason Miller, Trump’s senior advisor, told reporters at a Trump rally in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, last weekend.
