Donald Trump will return to Butler, Pennsylvania, the scene of the first attempt on his life, for a massive rally this Saturday night.
Trump has said he will begin the rally, “As I was saying..”
The former president has also said he feels he has an “obligation” to return to Butler.
“We never finished what we were supposed to do. And I said that day when I was shot, I said we’re coming back, we’re going to come back.”
On 13 July, within minutes of beginning his speech at a rally in Butler, Donald Trump came under fire from a nearby rooftop. The would-be assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed by snipers after firing a volley of rounds at the former president, one of which grazed his ear. Innocent bystanders in the crowd were hit and one, Corey Comperatore, was killed shielding his wife and daughter.
Trump rose from the floor, bloodied, and produced a stunning gesture of defiance, chanting “Fight! Fight! Fight!” and pumping his fist in the air, to rapturous applause from the crowd. It has become the defining image of this election.

Trump has invited a long list of special guests to be present at tonight’s rally, including the widow and daughters of Corey Comperatore and the other bystanders who were hit.
Among the guests at the rally tonight will be Elon Musk, who has Tweeted to confirm he will be there. This will be his first public appearance at a Trump rally.
Trump’s running-mate JD Vance will also be there, as will a number of other Republican politicians and members of local law enforcement.
The assassination attempt in Butler has “resonated deeply in the mountainous community north of Pittsburgh,” according to the Daily Mail.
Trump will look to shore up his support in the area and the state, which is one of the key battlegrounds of the election, but he also says his return to Butler will allow him to “celebrate a unifying vision for America’s future in an event like the world has never seen before.”
