Former Hawaii congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (D) slammed the Biden administration for promoting “dangerous” puberty-blocking hormones on “transgender” children.
Gabbard noted that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning last week admitting that hormone treatments pose dangerous risks to children.
“If you haven’t heard about it or you missed it, it’s because the mainstream media and the Biden-Harris administration have been completely silent on it,” Gabbard said Sunday in a video message on Twitter.
“This warning that the FDA issued is basically saying that puberty blockers can cause serious health risks for our kids.”

The FDA added warnings to multiple drugs often used as puberty-blockers for so-called “gender-affirming care,” concluding they are linked to a condition called pseudotumor cerebri, caused by high levels of fluid in the brain.
Symptoms of pseudotumor cerebri include headaches, dizziness, nausea, tinnitus, blurry vision and even permanent vision loss.
Gabbard went on to blast the Biden administration for “actively promoting” hormone treatments for children around the same time the FDA issued the warning last week.
“Unfortunately, at almost the exact same time the FDA issued this warning, Biden-Harris administration officials were making public statements actively promoting the use of puberty-blockers and irreversible surgeries for kids,” she said.
“Let’s be clear: this administration is dangerously promoting child abuse,” she added.
Gabbard is referring to Biden’s openly-transgender Assistant Secretary of Health Rachel Levine, who recently claimed puberty-blockers are “life-saving, medically necessary, age-appropriate and a critical tool for health care providers.”

Levine even refused to answer during his confirmation hearing last year whether children should be allowed to seek puberty-blockers for transgender treatment without parental consent.
Likewise, Biden himself told gender-confused children in April that he “has your back.”
Meanwhile, Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo argued the Biden administration’s efforts to normalize dangerous hormone treatments for children were backed by woke ideology, not valid medical research.
“The federal government’s medical establishment releasing guidance failing at the most basic level of academic rigor shows that this was never about health care,” Ladapo said in an April press release.
“It was about injecting political ideology into the health of our children. Children experiencing gender dysphoria should be supported by family and seek counseling, not pushed into an irreversible decision before they reach 18.”
Whether the Biden administration will shift its messaging about transgender hormone treatment in light of the FDA’s new warnings remains to be seen, but given its commitment to woke-ism, it’s not likely.
