California Rep. Adam Schiff (D) asked Twitter to specifically ban journalist Paul Sperry, claiming he “repeatedly promoted false QAnon conspiracies,” new Twitter Files show.
Internal communication in the latest batch of Twitter Files released by journalist Matt Taibbi show Schiff’s office reached out to Twitter in November 2020 claiming “harassment from QAnon conspiracists” against a Schiff staffer.
“Suspend the many accounts, including [Greg Rubini] and [Paul Sperry], which have repeatedly promoted false QAnon conspiracies and harassed [redacted.],” the request reads.

Remarkably, Twitter had tried pushing back against Schiff’s unconstitutional requests.
“No, this isn’t feasible. We don’t do this,” a Twitter staffer commented, but adding that “if it is related to QAnon it should already be deamplified.”

Sperry was later suspended in August 2022 after tweeting about the FBI’s raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida.
“DEVELOPING: Investigators reportedly met back in June w Trump & his lawyers in Mar-a-Lago storage rm to survey docs & things seemed copasetic but then FBI raids weeks later. Speculation on Hill FBI had PERSONAL stake & searching for classified docs related to its #Spygate scandal.”
“CNN is admonishing reporters not to call the FBI raid of Trump’s home a ‘raid,’ but instead to term it as a “judge-approved search.”
But Schiff’s censorship crusade didn’t end there.
His office also demanded Twitter to “suppress any and all search results about [redacted] and other Committee staff.”
“Stop the spread of future misinformation on Twitter about [redacted] and other Committee staff who are not public figures and who were not central actors in impeachment inquiry or the 2020 presidential election,” Schiff’s office wrote.
“Label and reduce visibility of any content about [redacted] that Twitter does not remove for the reasons cited above.”
This comes weeks after a previous Twitter Files drop showed the FBI deliberately suppressed the Hunter Biden laptop story in 2020 knowing it was not “Russian disinformation,” which prompted Twitter CEO Elon Musk to ask Schiff if he “approved” of the FBI’s unconstitutional “hidden state censorship.”

Schiff curtly responded that he “doesn’t support censorship” before going on a diatribe about “hate speech.”
“As the (outgoing) CEO of Twitter, how about you? Why not do more to stop slurs against Black people, LGBTQ+ people, Jewish people, and others? Do you commit to providing the public with actual answers and data, not just tweets?” he tweeted.
