Ukraine’s Western puppet president Volodymyr Zelensky continues showing his true colors as a tyrannical dictator, this time cracking down on his country’s largest Orthodox church.
The Zelensky regime suspects leaders in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) are secretly collaborating with Russia.
The Ukrainian government recently issued an eviction notice to the over 1,000 inhabitants of the historic monastery in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv called the Pechersk Lavra.
This decision comes despite the church publicly decrying Russia’s invasion of Ukraine when it first took place and ultimately cutting off its connection with the Moscow patriarchate due to the “special military operation.”
The UOC leader Metropolitan Clement told the BBC Zelensky has “no legal grounds” for evicting the monks from the church grounds, adding, “If the government forces us to do it illegally, it’s called totalitarianism. We don’t need such a state or government. We have the constitution and laws. We don’t accept other methods.”
Other Orthodox churches around Ukraine have recently been forcibly shut down by police in videos widely spread online.
Some temples have reportedly been burned to the ground amid the ongoing war.
After being ordered to leave the site of the Kiev monastery by Wednesday, the monks refused and Orthodox citizens of the city gathered outside in a light snow to protest and protect the monastery from the government.
Many parishioners even decided to stay overnight to protect the church and to continue demonstrating on Thursday.
The vicar of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel, released a video Wedensday responding to the order of eviction.
Pavel criticized President Zelensky, saying, “The Lord will not forgive you or your family for this act. Because at this moment, 220 people of the brotherhood have been thrown out into the street by you.”
A group of three women thrown out by the government told Politico they didn’t know where they’d sleep that night, one of them saying, “It’s as if they are taking our home. God will punish you, and others like you for playing with his will.”
Pavel also accused the Ukrainian Minister of Culture of being “possessed by anger, hatred, and diabolical rampage.”
President Zelensky claimed in a Wednesday video address his battle with the Orthodox church is protecting Ukrainian society “from the old and cynical Moscow’s manipulation of religion.”
In an extreme example of gaslighting, the puppet leader said his nation “is the territory of the biggest religious freedom in this part of Europe.”
The latest word is that the church and its followers intend on blocking the government from evicting the monks and confiscating shrines when they arrive later Thursday.
