President Trump’s medical team provided a positive update Sunday on his condition and health while being treated for COVID-19 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
The president’s physician Dr. Sean Conley said Trump has been carefully monitored over the course of the weekend, and is showing signs of improvement.
“Since we spoke last, the president has continued to improve,” Conley told reporters outside Walter Reed in Bethesda, Maryland.
Conley explained that Trump had two minor “episodes” related to blood oxygen levels since Friday, but has been treated and is even on course to be discharged in a day or two.
“Over the course of his illness, the president has experienced two episodes of transient drops in his oxygen saturation,” Conley said, adding that the medical team then prescribed Trump dexamethasone, an anti-inflammatory medication.
Pulmonary critical care physician Dr. Sean Dooley explained that Trump’s vitals have shown improvement.
“The patient continues to improve. He has remained without fever since Friday morning. His vital signs are stable,” Dooley said. “Our continued monitoring of his cardiac, liver, and kidney function demonstrates continued normal findings, or improved findings.”
Conley then said that Trump may be discharged in a day or two if he continues showing improvement.
“The fact of the matter is, is that he’s doing really well. He’s responding, and as the team said, if everything continues to go well, we’re going to start discharge planning back to the White House,” he said.
