The Department of Homeland Security has concluded there is “no need” for its proposed Disinformation Governance Board following fierce backlash.
The DHS’s “Disinformation Best Practices and Safeguards Subcommittee” was tasked with examining how best to introduce its Orwellian Ministry of Truth since the agency paused its disastrous rollout in May.
“We have now had briefings on the relevant disinformation-related activities of the Department. We are not ready, as of yet, to provide recommendations on the Department’s most effective approach to disinformation threats, including commitments to increase transparency and protect civil rights, civil liberties, and privacy,” a DHS report released Monday stated.

“However, at this point, we have concluded that there is no need for a Disinformation Governance Board,” the report added.
The DHS told the Daily Caller in a statement that Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas would meet with the subcommittee “to discuss their recommendation and looks forward to their more comprehensive final report and recommendations regarding the work overall, which are expected to be delivered in August.”
The DHS’ Disinformation Governance Board faced intense backlash from both the right and the left over its chair Nina Jankowicz’s obvious partisan leanings and participation in spreading actual disinformation, such as claiming that Hunter Biden’s laptop was “Russian disinformation.”
To stem the political upheaval, Mayorkas appeared on CNN to insist that the Disinformation Governance Board would have “no operational authority” to censor or monitor Americans’ free speech.
But that did little to stop the fallout; the DHS shut down the board for a 75-day review and Jankowicz resigned from the board in disgrace.
Internal documents given by a DHS whistleblower to Congressional watchdogs in June revealed that Disinformation Governance Board was designed precisely to serve as a “gatekeeper” for information and amplify talking points by the Biden administration.
Specifically, the board deemed “conspiracy theories” about the COVID vaccines, masks, and election security as “serious homeland security risks.”
This heartening development is proof positive that subversive government initiatives can be stopped in the face of an informed and engaged public.
