Steve Bannon, who is currently serving the final weeks of his four-month prison stint, predicted a Trump victory, in a new op-ed published by The National Pulse.
“Victory is at hand,” Bannon says in the piece, in which he notes that voters are “decisively rejecting” Kamala Harris and her “phony ‘politics of joy’.”
Kamala Harris has “peaked,” Trump’s former strategist writes.
“The momentum is now on our side, and this is the time to capitalize on it.”
“If the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement focuses all of its efforts on a massive get-out-the-vote and ballot-chasing effort in the crucial days and weeks until November 5th, we will win and win big,” Bannon explains.
“The stakes have never been higher; this is the opportunity to take back control. We are not just fighting for a win; we are fighting for the future of America. A victory of this magnitude means sweeping control of the House, Senate, and the Presidency. With this trifecta, we can destroy the policies that have harmed Americans and put the country back on track.”
Bannon urges strategists and Republican campaigners to do everything they can to make “undecided” voters choose Trump in November. “Relentless effort and personal contact” are necessary to win these people over, Bannon says.
He also praises former president Trump for “[risking] his life daily to save our country.”
“Every day, he faces tremendous opposition and challenges, but he continues to fight for the American people. Through your work, show him that you have his back. Let’s demonstrate our commitment to this cause by putting everything we have into these final weeks.”
Steve Bannon refused to testify before the January 6 Committee and was sentenced to jail for contempt of Congress, in 2022. Bannon was able to stay out of jail while he appealed the conviction, but in June of this year the conviction was upheld.
During his appeal, Bannon put forward the argument that his conviction and imprisonment were calculated to prevent him from campaigning for Donald Trump during this year’s election.
“The government seeks to imprison Mr Bannon for the four-month period leading up to the November election when millions of Americans look to him for information on important campaign issues,” Bannon’s lawyer wrote in an emergency motion attempting to overturn the sentence.
“Yet from prison, Mr Bannon’s ability to participate in the campaign and comment on important matters of policy would be drastically curtailed, if not eliminated.”
“This is about shutting down the MAGA movement, shutting down grassroots conservatives, shutting down President Trump,” Bannon told reporters after a court appearance on 6 June.
“Not only are we winning, we are going to prevail… There is nothing that can shut me up, and nothing that will shut me up.”
