A social media influencer claims she was offered money to post selfies of her receiving the Covid-19 vaccine.
In a confession posted to Instagram, model Whitney Rife admitted she’d been approached two different times by “vaccine campaigns” who offered her thousands of dollars for the vaccine selfie.
“I did just want to make a little note that I received two [offers from] vaccine campaigns paying thousands of dollars to go and get the vaccine and record it and take a selfie while getting the vaccine,” Rife says. “Just going to throw it out there.”
“I would NEVER accept a campaign like this, but be careful with what you’re being influenced on,” reads a caption on Rife’s post.
Rife’s declaration begs the question: who is putting up “thousands” to promote vaccines?
On Monday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki admitted the administration was undertaking efforts to convince “vaccine-hesitant” individuals to get the vaccine.
“We’ve run PSAs on the ‘Deadliest Catch,’ we’re engaged with NASCAR and country music TV. We’re looking for a range of creative ways to get directly connected to white conservative communities,” she stated.
