Failed DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was taken to the woodshed Thursday faced with a barrage of Republican congressmen blaming him for exacerbating the porous southern border, with many calling for his impeachment.
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R- Fla.) accused Mayorkas of having no plan to deport illegals “because you actually don’t want to remove them.”

Mayorkas meanwhile admitted to Gaetz he knows illegal immigrants released by DHS will go on to commit crimes against Americans.
Elsewhere during the hearing, Mayorkas confirmed to Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) he doesn’t know whether illegal immigrants on the terror watch list have been released into the United States.

Asked whether taxpayers were footing the bill to house and care for migrants and how many illegals are being shipped into Ohio by Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Ohio), Mayorkas responded he didn’t know.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) called out the DHS secretary’s lies about having “operational control” of the border, telling Mayorkas, “Your agency is releasing people on purpose in order to flood the zone & make sure that more people can come to the United States.”
At one point Rep. Roy showed numerous photos of fentanyl victims, telling Mayorkas they showed “faces of Americans across this country dying because of fentanyl pouring into our country because of your policies that you know full well are encouraging cartels, encouraging people to come here, harming Texas and harming this country.”
Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) also pointed out the DHS does not have “operational control” of the border, which violates the 2006 Secure Fence Act.
Mayorkas is in TOTAL violation of the 2006 Secure Fence Act.

“Mayorkas should be impeached or resign immediately,” Biggs later tweeted.
Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) piled on claiming Mayorkas’ actions represented “impeachable” offenses.
“Mr. Secretary, my advice to you is to begin your search for a different career field very soon because there will be an election,” Rep. Johnson told him.
“My constituents want you impeached because they believe you’ve committed treason,” Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) also told Mayorkas, adding, “They compare you to Benedict Arnold. You know, no parent with the last name Arnold names their kid Benedict. They wonder what will the Mayorkas family do down the road.”
Rep. Burgess Owens (R-Utah) placed the blame for the collapsed border squarely on the Biden administration, telling Mayorkas, “You did not inherit this; you caused this.”

During hearings Wednesday, Mayorkas was encouraged to resign in order to save the country by Rep. Clay Higgins (R-La.), who told him, “America needs you to own this sir..My God man, own the moment…if we have the majority you will face impeachment..ask you as a man, own this thing.”

The House and Senate hearings come as a federal judge has blocked the Biden administration from lifting Title 42, the Trump era Covid rule allowing speedy deportations of people who entered the country illegally. Border Patrol agents have warned if Title 42 is lifted, resources on the southern border could be overwhelmed with illegal entries.
