Tucker Carlson is reportedly exploring the possibility of hosting his own GOP debate following his exit from Fox News, according to The Washington Post.
If Carlson were to host his own debate, former President Donald Trump has reportedly confirmed he would attend.

Carlson and his team have discussed the possibility of moderating a candidate forum outside of the traditional protocols surrounding the GOP primary debate system, according to two people familiar with the considerations. These people said the setup — as well as Carlson’s availability to take on that kind of role, given the noncompete constraints of his contract with Fox — remain unclear. But Carlson has personally expressed enthusiasm about the idea, according to people familiar with his comments. At least one major candidate — Trump — has told Carlson he’s interested, according to a person familiar with the exchange.
The Post claims Carlson wants to host the debate as a way “to loosen the Republican National Committee’s grip on the process, as well as to challenge the role traditionally played by the major television networks.”
If Tucker follows through with the plan, he would be competing against his former employer, Fox News, which has already secured the rights to host the first 2024 Republican presidential primary debate.
Notably, Trump had suggested he would skip the debates altogether since he’s the clear front-runner of the party.
Hosting a GOP debate would definitely benefit Tucker’s brand recognition after his sudden departure from Fox News, and it could open a new world of opportunities for his as-yet uncertain future.
