Residents of major liberal California cities like San Francisco and San Diego are eager for the state to drop its indoor mask mandate on Wednesday.
Contrary to the far-left stereotype of Californians, most citizens interviewed by media outlets expressed excitement for participating in society mask-free after years forced masking.
In San Francisco, Fox News talked with locals who predominantly approved of the move.
“It’s a mess,” a man said of mandating masks. “I’m tired of it. My wife complains about it, my colleagues complain about it, all my friends complain about the mask so it’s great to hear.”
“I’m for no mask,” one woman said. “I think no matter what, everybody is going to encounter the virus. We have to start somewhere. We can’t be masked up forever.”
Another San Francisco resident told Fox, “This is exciting. We need this. This is going to just make everybody see each other’s smiles.”
A gym manager in San Diego also noted seeing people smile will be a simple improvement to daily life in the state.
“Our crew members are going to be able to see more smiling faces, more excitement,” he said. “More people will be allowed to come in based on the fact that they didn’t want to come in wearing a mask.”
CBS 8 San Diego reports that while unvaccinated people are supposed to continue wearing masks, it will be up to individual businesses to decide how they enforce the rules.
The ending of the indoor mask mandate comes just days after many California residents pointed out the hypocrisy of massive unmasked crowds, celebrities and politicians being spotted at this year’s Super Bowl in Los Angeles.
While the so-called elite party maskless by the tens of thousands, California announced Tuesday morning that the state’s school mask mandate will remain in effect for at least another two weeks.
“If they’re not willing to enforce it there (Super Bowl), then why are they choosing to enforce it upon our kids at school?” a concerned parent asked.
This is a small victory for Californians, but the battle for individual freedom continues.
A charter school in California is accused of discriminating against unvaccinated students by reportedly threatening them with expulsion and forcing them to study outdoors.
